Sedlescombe School Swimming Pool. The school pool is open to all at a cost of £2 per person per session. All sessions have a life saver in attendance.

Results of County Council Elections. County Councillor Peter Jones was elected to represented the Northern Rother division at the elections.

Go Global Holiday Club. Fun themed days with exciting and interactive workshops and some organised trips linked to global and environmental issues are planned at the Pestalozzi International Village, Sedlescombe TN33 0LF for 8-12 year olds from Battle area schools (supported by East Sussex County Council). They will take place on the following dates:

Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th August 2009
Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th August 2009
Wednesday 19th & Thursday 20th August 2009

Art Exhibition in Sedlescombe. A group of Sedlescombe artists and artist friends are planning an Exhibition of their work in Sedlescombe Village Hall between Friday 31 July and Monday 3 August inclusive.

East Sussex Youthbank
Young people, aged 13 to 19 (and up to age 25 with special needs) are invited to apply to East Sussex YouthBank to get money from the Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF) and Youth Capital Fund (YCF) - they can apply for anything between

£500 up to £5,000 from YOF
£1,000 up to £25,000 from YCF

Closing date for this round will be June 18th noon.
Changes for this year:

Young people will apply to East Sussex YouthBank for money from YOF/YCF.
There’s one application form & guidance notes for both YOF and YCF.
Young people can send in a short (up to 5 mins) film on DVD if they wish to for the part of the application that asks them to describe their project.

Pumphouse Designs (banner picture). Sedlescombe is fortunate to have several excellent businesses within the Village. Pumphouse Designs under the care of Andrew Gerken supplies architectural services. They can be found by taking the entrance next to the shop. See Sedlescombe Directory (within Annual Report 2009) for further details.

Tea at the pavilion. Everyone must agree that our Village shop and post office provides a wonderful service to the Sedlescombe community. The first week in June is National Independents Week when small shops around the country, together with their suppliers, seek to raise awareness of the important role that local shops play in the community.

This year, Jenny and John Mainwood are inviting the Village to join them for tea and refreshments at the sportsfield on Saturday 6 June from 2.30pm. There will be tastings and a chance to sample some of the local produce available the shop.

The Sports Association see this as a good opportunity to let the Village see the result of all the fund-raising for the new pavilion. Open to all.

Walks. With the better weather, you might feel tempted to take a walk. East Sussex County has a webpage listing all sorts of walks from circular ones to long distance walks.
