Please see below the crime updates from the period 24th  December 2010 to Sunday 2nd January 2011.

Serial 1229 of 24/12/2010
Shirlea View, Battle
Between 1600 on 23/12/10 and 1000 on 24/12/10 a vehicle was keyed on the drivers door. There are no witnesses or suspects and the crime has been filed. House to house enquiries were carried out by my team.

 

Serial 723 of 25/12/2010
Whatlington Road, Battle
Between 1700 on 24/12/10 and 0400 on 25/12/10 a ground floor bedroom window of a property was broken. It was likely a stone was used to caused the damage. It is possible than the suspects were attempting to hit her Father Christmas lights and hit the window instead. There are no suspects or witnesses and the crime has been filed.

Serial 278 of 27/12/2010
Pickforde Lane car park, Ticehurst
At 0857 on 27/12/10 the fire service reported a deliberate ignition to a bin within the car park.

Serial 257 of 28/12/10
Pickforde Lane, Ticehurst.
At 0908 hours on 28/12/10 the fire service reported another deliberate bin fire outside Ticehurst Motors.

Serial 322 of 28/12/2010
Farthing Hill, Ticehurst.
Damage was caused to Christmas tree lights outside a property. 2 burnt matches were found around the base.

We believe that the above 3 crimes in Ticehurst are linked. Today( 4/1) 4 youths were arrested causing damage to other Christmas decorations in the Ticehurst area. I will update you nest week, but we believe that these youths are responsible for all these crimes.

Serial 964 of 28/12/2010
Station Road, Battle
At 1820 hours on 28/12/10 a purse was stolen from a vehicle parked in Station Road. The vehicle had been left unlocked just for a short while. A suspicious male was seen to be walking away from the vehicle. He is described as white, in his late fifties, stocky build, stubble and wearing a heavy grey coat. British Transport Police are investigating the crime and are checking CCTV.

Serial 197 of 29/12/2010
Hastings Road, Battle.
At 0612 hours on 29/12/10 a milk float was stolen near Stars Green Lane. The float was later found some distance away. Nothing appears to have been stolen from it. There are no suspects or witnesses.

Serial 501 of 31/12/2010
Bexhill Road, Ninfield.
Between 1230 on 30/12/10 and 0930 on 31/12/10 a unit was attempted to be broken into. A door was attempted to be forced but no entry was gained. Scenes of crime officers attended the scene. There are no suspects or witnesses.

Serial 693 of 31/12/2010
Village stores, Ticehurst.
Sometime in the month of December a window frame has been jemmied at the rear of the store. No entry was gained and there are no suspects or witnesses.

Serial 701 of  31/12/2010 
Johns cross camping centre.
Between 1600hrs on 29/12 and 1200 on 31/12 several Catalytic converters have been removed from various vehicles. CCTV is being checked. A tool box was found nearby which is believed to have been used to remove the Catalytic converters. This will be forensically examined.

Serial 733 of 31/12/10
Battle High Street.
A debit card was lost in the street. It was then used at 0819 and 0820 hours on 26/12/10 to withdraw cash. It was used at the Barclays cash machine in the High Street. CCTV is being checked and enquiries are ongoing.

Serial 772 of 31/12/2010
Coronation Cottages, Robertsbridge.
Between 29/12 and 31/12 a house was attempted to be broken into. The front door of the property had been kicked and damage caused. No access was gained. Enquiries are continuing with Rother CID. .

Serial 938 of 31/12/10 
Meadow View, Ninfield.
Between 0200 and 1000 on 31/12/10 a moped was damaged. A scratch was put on the paintwork. There are no suspects or witnesses. Enquiries are continuing with my team.

Serial 1171 of 31/12/2010
Hastings Road. Flimwell.
This is a late reporting. On 15/9 a "dung fork" was stolen from a tractor. There are no suspects or witnesses.3 street lights have been damaged.

Serial 982 of 02/01/2011
Northiam Road, Staplecross.
An insecure vehicle was entered between 1030 and 1130 hours on 01/01/11. The tax disc and log book were stolen. There are no suspects or witnesses.

William Smith, 30, from Tenterden Road, Golford, Cranbook, Kent appeared at Lewes Crown Court in December and pleaded guilty to the robbery at Friars Antiques in Battle High Street. He remains in prison awaiting sentence.
