The Freedom of Information Act gives you the right to request information held by public authorities and, from 1 January 2009, all public sector organisations must adopt the new appropriate Model Publication Scheme 2009.

The Model publication scheme appropriate for parish councils was adopted by Sedlescombe Parish Council at its meeting on 11 November 2008 (Minute C08/09.76.3.1 refers). A summary of information available can be seen here.

A scale of charges was adopted at the same meeting (Minute C08/09.76.3.2 refers). This Guide explains how the public can access the information.

Information routinely available
Sedlescombe Parish Council routinely publishes information about itself, what it spends, what its priorities and plans are, how it makes decisions, its policies and procedures, lists and registers it maintains and the services it offers. The following details will helps you find that information:

Who we are and what we do
Organisational information, structures, members, committees, locations and staff

What we spend and how we spend it
Financial information relating to projected and actual income and expenditure, procurement, contracts and financial audit can be obtained in the drop down boxes on the left under this heading

What our priorities are and how are we doing
Strategies and plans. Our Parish Plan and Annual Reports are included in this section

How we make decisions
The decision making processes and records of decisions. The Council's policy on making decisions and links to agendas, minutes, consultations and planning application are included in this section as are the Parish Council's responses to consultation papers and to planning applications. Details of the Council's byelaws can be seen here

Our policies and procedures
Current written protocols, policies and procedures for delivering our services and responsibilities. This section includes the policies which guide Sedlescombe Parish Council's procedures. It also includes the Code of Conduct for Members and the adopted Complaints Procedure

Lists and registers
Information held in registers required by law and other lists and registers relating to our functions. This section includes the Sedlescombe Parish Council Assets Register

The services we offer
Information about the services we offer including leaflets, guidance and newsletters produced for the public and businesses. This section includes details of the Council's responsibilities in the parish and links to quarterly bulletins and monthly e-noticeboards

Nearly all information is easily available through the Parish Council's website www.sedlescombe.org.uk by clicking on the relevant spyglass. Information marked "on application" can be supplied by the Clerk to the Parish Council by telephoning 01424 870508 or sedlescombe@freezone.co.uk.

Hard copies of information are also available in accordance with the latest "schedule of charges" adopted by Sedlescombe Parish Council.
