SETTING THE STANDARD
Rother District Council is seeking someone with experience in probity and ethics and with the highest level of integrity to join it by becoming an independent member of its Standards Committee.
The Committee is responsible for promoting and maintaining the highest standards of conduct by elected and co-opted members of not only the District Council but also members of the 31 Parish and Town Councils within the Rother area.
The successful applicant will play an active part in the work of the Committee by ensuring observance of the Code of Conduct, assisting with advice and training and monitoring the complaints process. Applicants should live or work in the Rother area and have knowledge of the locality and its communities.
A small allowance will be paid as well as travel and subsistence payments.
The work is challenging and provides a real opportunity to make an active contribution to standards in public life, working alongside the other members of the Standards Committee.
If you feel you have the experience and personal qualities to undertake this role, please apply in your own style enclosing a CV to me by not later than Friday 7 December 2007.
An information pack and further particulars are available on the Council website (www.rother.gov.uk) or can be obtained by contacting Rosemary Cruttenden on 01424 787814.
