WE SHOULD NOT FORGET THOSE YET TO BE LINKED TO BROADBAND

NEXT STAGE?

So, what about those without a broadband connection?

The Parish Council is very concerned to involve and encourage those currently without any broadband connection and to give them the chance to have a say.  In so doing they too can contribute to the project’s success and hopefully derive some advantages for themselves.  There are so many benefits to be had by adopting broadband and life is getting increasingly difficult for those without it.

‘PEOPLE NOT PIPES’ ia a slogan adopted for the Superfast for Sedlescombe project.  ‘Pipes’ is the term used by techies to refer to the fibre links the broadband signal travels along.  The slogan  basically means, forget the technicalities, costs, etc. and concentrate on the people, helping your friends, neighbours and other members of our community to get connected.  The rest can be left to East Sussex County Council.

As an example, the Sedlescombe Friendship Club is doing its bit by giving training to some of the older members of our community and some of the stories that emerge are quite inspiring.

For others, something like the BBC First Click computer courses might be more suitable.  One held at Claverham Community College recently proved very popular.  It might be worth suggesting registering an interest with the College to see if they could mount a further course in the Summer Term.  Once connected, the BBC First Click website provides good advice, guidance and encouragement for beginners.

One way or the other, we intend covering this aspect in our case.
