ENVIRONMENTAL GUIDANCE FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES. There is a bewildering amount of environmental law that businesses need to be aware of. A useful government website gives clear guidance including the opportunity for businesses to sign up for free e-mails.

PLANNING IN ROTHER DISTRICT UP TO 2026. Rother is currently consulting on its Core Strategy for the Local Development Framework which will guide development in Rother District up until 2026.  Rother is holding several Exhibitions across the District up to 04/12/08.  Details of the Exhibitions can be seen on http://www.rother.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=2582.

On that same page, you can study the draft Core Strategy  by clicking on it in the “Related Media” column on the right hand side.  Comments on all these documents have to reach Rother by the end of January.

Rother is required to a lot of background evidence and the whole list can be seen on http://www.rother.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=5005.  You can, of course, study every one of these documents.  However, if time is short, please look at the Rural Settlements Study http://www.rother.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=5011 and the Village Appraisals in particular.  The direct link to the Village Appraisals document is http://www.rother.gov.uk/media/pdf/d/2/Part_2_Village_Appraisals.pdf.  There is a section on Sedlescombe.

By the time Sedlescombe Parish Council makes its comments, there will have been the opportunity:

  • To read the documents online.
  • To go to one of the exhibitions.
  • For parish councillors to attend the Rother Planning Seminar on 9 December.
  • To discuss it at a council meeting – please ask if you would like a subject put on the agenda of the next full Council meeting on 13 January, otherwise our Planning Committee will have it on one of its agendas in January.
