Brede High Woods. A meeting is to be held in Committee Room 2 of Sedlescombe Village Hall on Thursday 9 December at 19:00 for 19:30 start. Local people are invited. It is suggested that you take a bottle to share and the Woodland Trust officers will provide mince pies, tea and coffee.
"The Greenest Government Ever". There will be a public meeting from 19:00-21:00 in St Mary Magdalene Church, Sea Road, Bexhill TN40 1RH on Friday 26 November. Speakers will be Greg Barker MP, Liz Hutchins from Friends of the Earth, and John Holbrow from the Federation of Small Businesses.

Parish Council Resignations. The Parish Council has received two resignations recently, from Mary Irwin and Caitlin Wheatley.

Mary joined the Parish Council 20 years ago and has given dedicated service to the community through her work on the Council. During that time, she has served on the Planning Committee, Crime & Safety Committee and Finance Committee, where she was Chairman for a time. Mary has represented the Council at meetings of the Rother Association of Local Councils and the Board of Governors of Sedlescombe CE School. The Council wishes Mary well and hopes that her health will continue to improve.

Caitlin joined the Council in 2007 and has served on the Planning Committee and Crime & Safety Committee. Caitlin was often able to represent the views of people living in Stream Lane, where she lives. Unfortunately, family commitments have meant that she is no longer able to give the necessary time to the work of the Council. The Council wishes Caitlin well.

As it is less than six months before the next elections, the Council agreed on Tuesday (16th) to leave the two vacancies and, for the time being, not to co-opt any replacements.

Cllr Vine-Hall was appointed to fill the vacancy on the Planning Committee caused by Caitlin's resignation. Cllr Wright will join Cllr Glew in representing the Council on Rother Association of Local Councils.

Active Ambling Workshop. Rother Voluntary Action is holding an "Active Ambling" workshop on Thursday 09/12/10 in St Mary's Community Hall, Church Lane, Udimore TN31 6BB, 13:00 to 16:00. Those attending will hear about walking and maintaining footpaths, keeping communities fit, development of interest groups and ideas for low key tourism to help boost the local economy. Since opening, the facility has successfully recycled green waste received via 14 household waste recycling sites in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove as well as green waste from Hastings & Rother's kerbside collection schemes. More recently, it has also successfully recycled co-mingled cardboard and green waste collected from the kerbside in Eastbourne.
