The pump casings were removed for refurbishment on 13 July. In due course the refurbished pump casings will be replaced and a new set of railings installed around. The pumphouse roof, seats and floor will be repaired.

The cost of this work is being met from a Warr Partnership Grant and local fund-raising.

While the pump casings are away, the Parish Council is investigating whether a hand pumping mechanism can be installed to allow the pump to be operated for educational purposes. A booklet about the pump and its importance to Sedlescombe during the first half of the 20th century will be produced.

The cost of this part of the work is being met from a Battle Partnership Grant and Parish Council funds.

The whole project is due to be completed by the end of September 2010.
