MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE HELD ON TUESDAY 8 AUGUST 2006 IN COMMITTEE ROOM 2 OF THE VILLAGE HALL 19:30 TO 20:00

P06/07.34 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE were received from Cllr Cameron (holiday) and Cllr Mrs Mitchell (ill).

P06/07.35 MINUTES.  The Chairman was authorised to sign the Minutes of the Meeting of the Committee held on 11/07/06.

P06/07.36 INTERESTS.  Members were reminded to disclose their personal interests in items on the agenda.  None disclosed.

P06/07.37 REPORT ON MATTERS PREVIOUSLY ARISING

37.1 Spilstead Airstrip.  The Rother Enforcement Officer was to arrange a meeting for relevant parties regarding recording of flights from the airstrip.

37.2 Brickwall Hotel signs.  Cllr Rand reported that he had had a meeting with the owner of the Hotel who is willing to pay for his signs currently on the A21 to be replaced with brown tourist signs.  Further information would be obtained from Robertsbridge regarding their “historic village” brown tourist signs.  It was also noted that Leeford Place Hotel in Whatlington has four brown tourist signs on the A21.  It was agreed that the Clerk should investigate replacing existing “Sedlescombe” village signs on the B2244 with brown tourist signs.

37.3 RR/2006/148P Homestall.  A neighbour had just informed the Council of his objection to the fence erected in front of the newly-built bungalow.  The approved plans would be consulted.

P06/07.38 PLANNING APPLICATIONS
38.1  RR/2006/1613/P Beech Farm Bungalow, Hawkhurst Road, Sedlescombe.  Conversion of existing outbuilding to form studio/hobbies room to provide ancillary accommodation to existing dwelling.  Cllr Foord reported on his inspection.  RESOLVED:  That the Parish Council supports approval.

38.2 RR/2006/1875/P 35 Gorselands, Sedlescombe.  Proposed first floor extension.  Cllr Martin reported on his inspection.  RESOLVED:  That the Parish Council supports approval.

38.3 RR/2006/2108/L Bourne Farm, Brede Lane, Sedlescombe.  New window in south elevation.  RESOLVED:  That the Parish Council should not comment on his application.

P06/07.40 ROTHER LOCAL PLAN.  On 10/07/06, Rother District Council adopted the Rother District Local Plan under the Town & Country Planning Act 1990.  The adopted plan will form the development plan for the area of Rother District.  The development plan forms the basis for decisions on land use planning affecting that area.

P06/07.41 APPEAL RESULT.  Jessmond, Churchland Lane, Sedlescombe.  Use of residential caravan as a holiday unit.  Appeal dismissed.

 

P06/07.42 ROTHER DISTRICT COUNCIL PLANNING HANDBOOK.  Members had been supplied with copies of the revised handbook.
