February Crime Report from PC Jayne Cleverley
Crime. Criminal damage to scout hut situated in East View Terrace on 06/02 has been reported -  house to house completed with a negative result.  Since this the hut has been made secure. No further lines of enquiry.
Two burglaries have occurred in Sedlescombe during February -  one from an insecure porch  - house to house completed with a negative result. The other, a dwelling, was entered by smashing a rear door and house was searched by offenders - many items taken.   Investigation is continuing by the specialized burglary team.

Residents are reminded when leaving for any period of time a light should be left on, alternatively timers can be used to automatically switch lights on in the hours of darkness.  Get your neighbours to check your property, and possibly switch lights on and take post away from the door.

Two thefts -  one of number plates from a garage forecourt and the other a shoplifting -  both have no further lines of enquiry.

During the school holidays operation TEMPTATION was run to tackle anti-social behaviour.  This was carried out by a PC and a PCSO attending hot spots of such behaviour -  issuing Stop Intervention Forms (SIF) and then give advice and moving groups on if necessary. Although the weather seemed to reduce the number of reported incidents many SIF forms were completed and on occasions alcohol was seized and disposed of.

91.2 March Crime Report from PC Jayne Cleverley
Crime. A BT telephone box in Brede Lane has been broken into - a sum of money stolen - the theft is linked with similar thefts around the Sussex area at this time - investigations continue.

A theft from rear patio - a fridge/freezer was stolen - the unit was broken and was of no value - no further lines of enquiry.

Two other possible thefts have not been crimed at this stage as it is unclear as to the exact circumstances.

Two incidents involving motorbikes in the East View Terrace area.  A name was given and the youth was given words of advice as to the possible seizure of the vehicle.

Anti social behaviour. Sussex Police anti-social behaviour officer has attended Sedlescombe, investigating individuals, and has attended addresses issuing warnings/ABC to youths who are committing alarm, harassment and distress.  Due to the warmer weather, problems around the kick-about area are increasing late at night.

I have attended a meeting with the village Councillors, Housing Officer and Youth Workers in an attempt to resolve these problems.

Roads. The village Council arranged a Speed Indicator Device to be set up in Sedlescombe to provide evidence for some type of action to reduce speeding vehicles through the village, many volunteers attended to provide cover for the week.

Roads were closed throughout the Rother area on 30/03/07 due to a chemical substance spillage.
