MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE OF SEDLESCOMBE PARISH COUNCIL HELD IN COMMITTEE ROOM 2 OF THE VILLAGE HALL ON TUESDAY 12 JUNE 2007 19:45 TO 20:20

P07/08.10 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE were received from Cllrs Wright and Rand (both away).

P07/08.11 MINUTES. The Chairman was authorised to sign the Minutes of the Meeting of the Committee held on 29/05/07.

P07/08.12 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION. No public present.

P07/08.13 MEMBERS' INTERESTS. Members were reminded that they should declare their personal or personal/prejudicial interests in accordance with the Code of Conduct adopted by the Parish Council on 15/05/07. None disclosed.

P07/08.14 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES. None.

P07/08.15 PLANNING APPLICATIONS

15.1 RR/2007/1446/P Cartref, The Street, Sedlescombe. Erection of a terrace of 3 dwellings including provision of 6 parking spaces. Cllr Dudman reported on his inspection. The Committee noted that there had been objections to this application from a neighbour in Eaton Walk about the position of the bin store/noise and disturbance and from the Environment Agency who remain concerned about the ghyll to the north of the site. RESOLVED: That the Parish Council supports approval but suggests that the bin store is resited to a central location at a distance from houses in Eaton Walk.

15.2 RR/2007/1559/P The Old Barn, Hawkhurst Road, Sedlescombe. Erection of a single storey utility room extension to the side of the property. Cllr Martin reported on his inspection. RESOLVED: That the Parish Council supports approval.

15.3 RR/2007/1562/C & RR/2589/CC Sedlescombe CEP School. To vary condition 3 of permission RR/2495/CC to permit use of Multi Use Games Area (MUGA): Monday to Saturday during (i) Winter months 0800p1700 and (ii) Summer months (BST) 0800-2000. No use of MUGA during official school holiday. RESOLVED: That the Parish Council supports approval intially for a one-year trial.

15.4 RR/2007/1577/P Firwood, Kent Stree, Sedlescombe. Proposed side extension with new pitch roof and other roof improvements. Cllr Rand had sent his comments on his inspection. RESOLVED: That the Parish Council supports approval.

RR/2007/895/P Hurst House, Hurst Lane, Sedlescombe Change of use of land to and erection of covered horse arena Parish Council supports approval. It recognises the enormous effort that the applicant has made to reduce the building's impact on the landscape by redesigning and relocating it, by setting it at a lower level and by planting mature tree screening.

ROTHER DISTRICT COUNCIL GRANTED PLANNING PERMISSION

RR/2007/821/P Holmside, Whydown Hill, Sedlescombe Erection of three-storey side extension to form lounge and porch on ground floor, bedroom and bathroom at first floor and extensions of existing bedroom within the roof space Parish Council supports approval but, because the neighbouring property is so close, suggests that consideration should be given to ways of alleviating disturbance during the building work such as restriction on working hours and making arrangements for contractors' parking.  Although the application states that no trees will be removed, it will be necessary to remove some conifers.
