MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE OF SEDLESCOMBE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON TUESDAY 24 JULY 2007 IN COMMITTEE ROOM 2 OF THE SEDLESCOMBE VILLAGE HALL, 19:45 TO 20:30

P07/08.27 Public session/prejudiced members. No public present and no prejudiced members wished to speak.

P07/08.28 Apologies for absence were received from Cllr Wheatley (holiday) and Cllr Dudman (work commitments).

P07/08.29 Minutes. The Chairman was authorised to sign the Minutes of the Meeting of the Committee held on 10/07/07.

P07/08.30 Declarations. CLLR MARTIN DECLARED HIS PERSONAL/PREJUDICIAL INTEREST IN AGENDA ITEM 33.1 BY VIRTUE OF HIS BEING THE BROTHER IN LAW OF THE APPLICANT.

P07/08.31 Matters arising from the Minutes

31.1 Planning White Paper. A brief resume was provided. RESOLVED: That the following comments are submitted:

Sedlescombe Parish Council -

P07/08.32 Planning applications

32.1 RR/2007/1745/P The Haven, Sandrock Hill, Sedlescombe. Formation of vehicular access for off-road parking. Cllr Cameron reported on his inspection. RESOLVED: That the Parish Council supports a refusal because of the additional traffic hazard that would be created. It appears that traffic would either have to back in or out of the new access on a fast stretch of the B2244.

32.2 RR/2007/1840/P Tresco, Hurst Lane, Sedlescombe. Alterations and building works to an outbuilding. Erection of single storey timber construction (retrospective application). Cllr Martin reported on his inspection. One letter for and another against the application were read to the Committee. RESOLVED: That the Parish Council supports an approval.

P07/08.33 Appeals

33.1 This item was considered at the end of the agenda. CLLR MARTIN DECLARED HIS PERSONAL/PREJUDICIAL INTEREST BY VIRTUE OF HIM BEING THE BROTHER IN LAW OF THE APPLICANT. HE LEFT THE MEETING DURING THE ITEM. The Committee noted that Mrs Saull-Hunt's appeal against Rother's refusal of planning reference RR/2006/2652/P had been dismissed.

33.2 RR/2007/182/P Petley Farm, Marley Lane, Battle. Outline: siting of two new holiday lodges and formation of car park and removal of steel containers. See Rother Planning Officer's Report on Application No.RR/2007/182/P. RESOLVED: THAT SEDLESCOMBE PARISH COUNCIL SHOULD NOT ADD ANY COMMENTS TO THOSE ALREADY SUBMITTED ON THE APPLICATION.

P07/08.34 Planning Results

34.1 The following applications have been approved:

RR/2007/1073/P Pine View, Balcombe Green, Sedlescombe Demolition of existing conservatory and construction of new single storey extension
RR/2007/1559/P The Old Barn, Hawkhurst Road, Sedlescombe Erection of a single storey utility room extension to the side of the property

RR/2007/1562/C (Rother number)

Sedlescombe C E Primary School, Brede Lane, Sedlescombe

This was a County Council decision. One-year approval granted.

To vary condition 3 of permission RR/2495/CC to permit use of Multi Use Games Area (MUGA): Monday to Saturday during (i) Winter months 0800-1700 and (ii) Summer months (BST) 0800-2000. No use of MUGA during official school holiday

RR/2007/1577/P Firwood, Kent Street, Sedlescombe Proposed side extension with new pitch roof and other roof improvements

34.2 The following application has been refused by Rother

RR/2007/985/P Little Orchard - land rear of, Meadow Lane, The Street, Sedlescombe Erection of detached chalet type dwelling including rooflights and with detached double garage (unacceptable relationship with neighbouring property Bloomfield resulting in oppresive outlook and overshadowing)
