Rother District Council Cabinet 14/01/08

CB07/126.     CLEAN NEIGHBOURHOODS AND ENVIRONMENT ACT 2005 DOG

  1. CONTROL ORDERS

Consideration was given to the representations received in response to the publication of the Council’s proposals for the introduction of a district wide Dog Control Order relating to dog fouling in accordance with the decision made at Minute CB07/86 in October 2007.

Only one outright objection had been received and detailed consideration was given to this and to comments received from Crowhurst and Sedlescombe Parish Councils relating principally to responsible dog ownership, the regular emptying of dog waste bins and enforcement of any additional controls that may be imposed.

The Head of Environmental Health indicated that as many Officers as possible and appropriate would be authorised to enforce the new controls once they had come into operation.

RESOLVED: That

1)         the making of the Dog Control Order to control dog fouling (as set out in appendix A to the report, but subject to the deletion of the words “This may include some areas of access land” from paragraph (a) of the Schedule to that Appendix) be proceeded with; and

2)         the Head of Corporate Resources be authorised to give notice of the making of the Order in accordance with the Dog Control Order (Procedures) Regulations 2006 with an effective date of 1 April 2008.
