Public participation session.

Mr Wayne Glaze and Mr John Hanagarth of Hurst Lane, Sedlescombe attended to speak about Agenda item 54.2. Cllr Martin declared his personal/prejudicial interest in the matter and left the room. Cllr Wright in the chair.

In summary, Mr Glaze and Mr Hanagarth informed the Committee that the proposed sand school was situated very close to their properties and they were concerned that it would adversely affect the amenity of their properties and the tranquility of the area. Mr Glaze objected to the sand school's visibility in the wider landscape and the highway and stressed the importance of looking after the countryside. He also stated that the pink planning notice was not displayed on the property. Mr Hanagarth asked why the proposed sand school had to be so close to their homes and whether it was likely to turn into a commercial enterprise.

The Chairman advised Mr Glaze and Mr Hanagarth and any other objectors to submit their views to Rother District Council.

RR/2009/2135/A - land fronting (land opposite of Magazine Farm), Sedlescombe TN33 0QA. 1 x advertising board to show details of the hotel and directions. RESOLVED: That Sedlescombe Parish Council objects to the proposal for this large sign on the A21 but would support erection of a "local services" road traffic sign, with approval of the Highways Agency, directing traffic into Sedlescombe Village to access its amenities.

RR/2009/2093/P Hurst House, Hurst Lane, Sedlescombe TN33 0PE. Proposed sand arena. Cllr Wright had visited the site. RESOLVED: That the Parish Council objects to the proposal as submitted.  Whilst not objecting to a sand school being built, it should be situated in an area more sympathetic to neighbours in Hurst Lane.  The sand school as shown on the plan would be very close to the properties.  If built, it would be likely to detract from the amenities of the residents of those properties by being visually intrusive and noisy.
