Budget Car Company Planning Issues

  1. Enforcement notice regarding removal of Storm Port. Enforcement notice served by Rother District Council but no action taken because of subsequent submission of planning application.
  2. Waving balloon man. Being investigated by Rother District Council.
  3. Enforcement notice regarding permitted parking area for car sales. Enforcement notice served by Rother District Council but no action taken because of subsequent submission of planning application.
  4. Any other issue. Parking of cars for sale on the highway being investigated by Rother District Council.

Planning Applications

58.1 RR/2010/2078/P Poppinghole Farm, Poppinghole Lane, Robertsbridge. Proposed triple garage with storage over.Cllr Martin reported on his inspection. RESOLVED: That the Council should make a general observation that, whilst the Parish Council of Sedlescombe does not object to the principle of the development, the proposed position of the garage on a bank about 1.5 metres above road level could mean it will be a rather imposing building that may affect the amenity of the neighbouring property.

RR/2010/2211/P The Budget Car Company, The Street, Sedlescombe TN33 0QB. Extension to existing authorised sales area. (Retrospective). RESOLVED: That the Council objects to the proposal for the following reasons (in summary - fuller details to be sent to Rother DC):

  1. Highly visible and prominent position in Sedlescombe Conservation Area.
  2. Intensification of car sales is contrary to the spirit of the original planning application and does not respect the character and appearance of the locality.
  3. Prejudices the character, appearance and setting of listed buildings, some of which are 15th century.
  4. Can be prominently viewed from Village Green and is very noticeable from the Queen's Head garden.
  5. Unacceptable traffic conditions are produced because of poor visibility near the river bridge.
  6. Parking cars for sale on the concrete road prevents easy emergency access to the pumping station by Southern Water Authority.
  7. Parking on the concrete road means that Southern Water Authority employees have to find somewhere else to park.
  8. No turning facilities on the site.
58.3 RR/2010/2212/P The Budget Car Company, The Street, Sedlescombe TN33 0QB. Erection of valeting bay structure. RESOLVED: That the Parish Council objects to the retention of the storm porch which is an inappropriate building in the Sedlescombe Conservation Area.
58.4 RR/2010/2232/P Hurst House, Hurst Lane, Sedlescombe TN33 0PE. Removal of the condition 4 on the above application to allow a fence to be erected around the riding area. It was agreed that, in accordance with usual practice, no comment will be made as the applicant is a parish councillors.

  2. RR/2010/1629/P South Lodge, Cottage Lane, Sedlescombe. Detached garage and store within extended grounds of dwelling. Planning permission granted by Rother District Council.
  3. RR/2010/1864/P 1-3 The Paddock - land rear of - Brede Lane, Sedlescombe. Erection of pair of semi-detached dwellings. Planning permission granted by Rother District Council.
  4. RR/2010/1501/P Cheyne Down Cottage, Hurst Lane, Sedlescombe. Erection of new private dwelling. Delegated to approve.
  5. RR/2010/1404/P Lyndale, Churchland Lane, Sedlescombe. Removal of holiday caravan and timber holiday chalet and replacement with single timber holiday chalet. Delegated to approve.
P10/11.61 Spilstead Farm Planning. Being investigated by Rother's Enforcement Officer.
P10/11.62 Chittlebirch Yard. Jeremy Green, Business Manager of 1066 Enterprises, had written to thank the Planning Committee for its support. Regarding the new barn, he says that local advice will be welcome in due course.
