20.1 Vulnerable people. Some people had completed a recent survey form asking for help in times of an emergency. Members added other names to the list.
20.2

Volunteers. Thirty-six names had been put forward on a recent survey form. The Clerk will contact them. The volunteers have a range of practical skills, some of which could be useful in times of difficult weather conditions. Other skills are of a more social nature. Details were given to members who will be identified as Emergency Response Wardens in the Sedlescombe Emergency Plan and forthcoming Sedlescombe Annual Report 2012. Anyone who needs help should contact one of these people living nearest to them. The Wardens will then be able to act in accordance with the Sedlescombe Emergency Plan 2012.

Pestalozzi students may be able to help if weather conditions do not allow them to get into Hastings.

The idea of setting up a more formal group of "Community Friends" who could be called upon by anyone who needs temporary help or just someone to chat to seemed to fit neatly into a new scheme being initiated in Rother rural areas by Val Smith of Rother Voluntary Action. Val will identify the volunteers, set up a steeing group to lead to a properly constituted group with a bank account, she will provide the set up funding needed to pay for insurance etc and will arrange volunteer CRB checks. It was agreed that the Clerk should contact Val and ask her to start the process of setting up such a group in Sedlescombe.
