Tennis Courts

  1. Use by Sedlescombe Junior and Senior Netball Clubs. Funds have been received for the twice-weekly use by the Junior and Senior Netball Clubs during the summer months. With permission, a Netball Tournament was held at the courts.
  2. Use by the general public. It appears that the courts have been well used by the public during the summer months. This has been free of charge. The Clerk had written to a lady who was carrying out coaching at the courts without payment and had explained that she must pay if she wishes to use the courts for coaching.
  3. Possible use by Football Club. John Noonan had written asking whether the Football Club could use the tennis courts for evening winter football practice when the sportsfield surface is unfit to play on. This would involve four evenings a week for three hours under temporary floodlights (planning permission needed). Boards would be erected around the courts to protect the netting. The Secretary was write to Mr Noonan as follows:
    1. The posts holding the tennis nets cannot be removed.
    2. Further details required of the proposed protective fencing, how it would be fixed and where it would be stored.
    3. There is concern about the number of hours' use and how it could affect the neighbours.
    4. Planning permission for the floodlighting must be obtained prior to use.
    5. How much is the football club willing to pay for the use of the courts?

TR09/10.12 2009 Inspection Report. Members were provided with details of the 2009 inspection report of the ground belonging to the Trust. Most jobs involve general minor maintenance but the half-moon litter bin on the fence will be replaced with a larger one because the existing one is too small.
