SEDLESCOMBE PUBLIC PLAYING FIELD & RECREATION GROUND TRUST MINUTES 16/11/10

A MEETING OF THE PUBLIC PLAYING FIELD AND RECREATION GROUND TRUST WAS HELD IN COMMITTEE ROOM 2 OF SEDLESCOMBE VILLAGE HALL ON TUESDAY 16 NOVEMBER 2010, 21:00 to 21:10

PRESENT: Valerie Wright (Chairman), Pauline Raymond (Secretary). Pauline Glew, John Marland, Pat Martin, Jenny Mitchell, Jonathan Vine-Hall

T10/11.9 Apologies for absence. Anthony Rand.

T10/11.10 Minutes. RESOLVED: That the Minutes of the Meeting of the Trust held on 11/05/10 are signed as a correct record.

T10/11.11 Matters arising from the Minutes

  1. Insurance. The Secretary reported that a Charity Assured Choice policy had been purchased at the cost of £172.50.
T10/11.12 Unauthorised events on Trust land:

  1. Gate previously on Budget Car Company land. It was noted that a gate similar to the one previously across the entrance to Budget Car Company car sales area has appeared on Playing Field Trust property at the rear of the valeting centre. The Secretary was asked to write to the Budget Car Company asking for it to be removed.
  2. "A" board belonging to Bridge Garage Antiques. It was noted that an "A" board was removed from the front of Bridge Garage Antiques one night and was found damaged the next morning on the tennis courts.
T10/11.13 Use of the tennis courts since the last meeting. The courts had once again been used by the Sedlescombe Netball Club but an income of only £165, compared with £260 last year, had been received.

T10/11.14 Complaint about other uses of the tennis courts. A complaint had been received from a member of the public that the courts were being used for games other than tennis and netball eg football. The Trust was reminded that, when it had been agreed that the courts would be left unlocked and the use not monitored, it was accepted that, from time to time, they would be used for other games. Although the use of hard footballs in the courts might damage the fencing, damage could be considerably worse if the courts were locked and people began to climb over the fence again.

T10/11.15 Complaint about parking on land in front of the tennis courts. The same person had complained that the land in front of the courts was occasionally used for parking vehicles. A larger "no parking" sign had been suggested. The Trust agreed to take no action for the time being unless the problem of unauthorised parking increased when the subject would be considered again.
T10/11.16 Payment to the Parish Council. RESOLVED: That the Parish Council's invoice for £350 is paid.

T10/11.17 Invoice to the Parish Council. It was noted that an invoice of £500 had been submitted to the Parish Council to top up Trust Funds.
